Perhaps they are counting on people's lack of time or laziness to remove this off their computer after they download it, but I do know that this toolbar has caused several problems for users--and not just slow-downs! Some users reported that their antivirus or firewall was disabled when they installed this toolbar, and others reported spyware infections. 2. Fake Antivirus Software From the looks of it, it seems as though antivirus programs are no match for the creators of fake antivirus software. They seem to be getting more and more sophisticated to trick users into believing that there is a problem with their computer--whether it is malware or another problem--in order to scare them into downloading their "software" or paying for their services. Most of these programs are only after your money, so trying to find a solution is not worth your time. Instead, you'll want to remove this program immediately.
3. Fake Antivirus Software In this case, the fake antivirus software seems to be scams that scams that trick users into thinking their computer is infected by malware. In many cases, this software does nothing to help your computer and simply makes you think your computer is being attacked so you'll have to pay for a full version of the program. The trick behind these programs is pretty simple: "[fake antivirus software] installs a trojan which you must remove manually." - McAfee's Security Blog 4. Fake Antivirus Software This type of fake antivirus software has been around for years and shows no sign of slowing down. Many of these programs will attempt to trick you by scanning your computer for malware and informing you that it found multiple infections. They may even freeze your screen to make it look like the scan is actively running. This, of course, is not true! You can simply close your computer and turn it back on after uninstalling the program, but be sure to scan for worse-case scenarios just in case. 5. Peer-to-peer Programs and Files Through peer-to-peer networks and programs such as Bittorrent and Frostwire, users may download all types of files in order to get access to music, movies, TV shows, books...etc. But not all downloads are what they seem...
